The United States Federation of Inline Figure Skaters or USFIFS was formed on Sept. 1, 2007. USFIFS is a non-profit Illinois organization and is considered a 501c3 organization by the IRS. Donations to USFIFS are tax-deductible.
USFIFS has legally adopted the name U.S. Inline Figure Skating.
It is an organization of inline, roller and ice skaters, coaches and clubs interested in the advancement of inline figure skating. Some of the goals of the USFIFS are as follows:
· - Provide rules and a training program in freestyle, dance, synchronized skating and theater on inlines that is relevant to testing, competitions, and other activities of the USFIFS, affiliated clubs and individual members.
· - Support whenever possible the efforts and activities of all current organizations involved in skating whose goals are consistent with the goals of USFIFS.
· - Provide a structure that can be used as a model for the development of inline figure skating organizations in other countries and to invite these organizations to join with us in a world-wide organization.
· - Help to develop new and improved equipment, technologies and services that enhance the skaters development and enjoyment of the sport.
· - Encourage events and training for all ages both indoors and outdoors including schools, park districts and other public and private facilities.
· - Follow the rules of the International Skating Union (ISU) and United States Figure Skating (USFS), in the matters of governance, competition, testing and all activities necessary for the functioning of the organization. The organization will not be directly subject to the governance and rules of the ISU and USFS, but will follow these rules as a matter of organization, convenience and in the interest of the skater. These rules will be modified as necessary.
The organization is now accepting members as of September 1, 2007. The website is usfifs.org. For further information please contact: info@usfifs.org or call: (708) 707-0992.
